My favourite kind of decadent bitch is the understated decadent bitch. The kind who is too damn decadent to care for the attention. It makes for a nice surprise when they pop up around the place, like so:

 Lady Gitte lives her high life in the low light. Danish born, Brigette Lee Kröncke had a modelling career over 50years ago and has only recently made a creeping return into a spotlight after years of keeping a private life playing loving wife to famed and knighted actor Sir Christopher Lee. In the last few months she has been featured in Celine's Autumn Winter 10/11 advertising campaigns as well as an editorial for Vogue Italia in October 2010.

 Her style is very much an effortlessly elegant uniform - sweater, trousers, coat - in fabrics which vary from season-to-season to suit the climate. She keeps things simple and classic, varying outfit combinations with hats and accessories to match each ensemble.




There is a lot to be said for understated elegance, and I think we'll be seeing more of Lady Gitte in fashion.

Old Lady Rebellion

On the topic of old ladies and fashion...through my own market research for van Eysden I've found that on a scale from church to fur, the variety of fashion on offer for those with more 'advanced style' is relatively limited. The notion of edgy, futuristic fashion is often pigeonholed to a younger demographic...fair enough comfort becomes a major factor as you shop when you get older, however there are plenty of decadent old bitches out there who can appreciate edgy design.
My collection is 8months away from release...but in the meantime, for any grannies, DINKs, grey nomads and baby boomers out there hollaring for something a little more than crochet and pastel knits, I've discovered Old Lady Rebellion, a line of fashion for the older woman who can still appreciate edgy design. It is a huge hit in Europe with plans to expand to the States. And for Australia...watch this space.

Michele Lamy

If Michele Lamy was my muse and happened to be my wife, I'd be a pretty freaking good designer too. The other half of Rick Owens, Michele Lamy has so far led a colourful, nomadic life that not many people know about, which includes her earlu practice as a defense attorney while she lived in France.

Among other things, she was a teenage stripper, owned a cabaret club in LA, and was also a student of philosopher Gilles Deleuze.

Michele has been a strong influence in Rick's career since they relocated back to Paris in 2002. She is a strong ambassador for the label, and is barely photographed wearing anything else these days. 

AND SHE HAS GOLD/DIAMOND ENCRUSTED TEETH! BITCH IS FIERCE!
